Lots of recycling

The Maui News / MATTHEW THAYER photo

Aloha Recycling staffers Oatman Lang (right) and Rico Albious dump a barrel of glass, HI-5 bottles into a bin at the Kihei Redemption Center on Friday morning. “Yesterday, we were just slammed,” said lead worker Holly Moore. “Everybody in Kihei came in. It looks like they’re coming today, too.” According to Aloha Recycling Operations Manager Sherri Pell, the Kihei center collects an average of 15 million HI-5 containers a year. HI-5 is the state’s beverage deposit container program and each recycled container refunds 5 cents to consumers.

Starting at $4.62/week.
