Cody Young of Maui competes during the second round of the Vans World Cup on Thursday at Sunset Beach on Oahu. Young scored a 13.80 to win his heat and advance to the third round of the World Surf League qualifying series event. Also advancing were Imaikalani Devault, who won his heat with a 14.07, and Logan Bediamol, second in his heat with a 10.46. Among those eliminated were Billy Kemper (8.83), Olamana Eleogram (4.47) and Dusty Payne (3.93).
