Minoru "Pointer" Takaki, 97, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2020, at Hale Makua Kahului. Minoru was born on November 30, 1922, to Teizo & Mitsuye (Utano) Takaki in Paia, Maui. He grew up in McGerrow Camp in Puunene, attended Lahainaluna as a boarder, and later graduated from Baldwin High School. Minoru served in the U.S. Army as a linguist for the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) in Japan after World War II. George Kastumi Kashiwa passed away on October 11th at the Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Wailuku, Maui on June 2, 1948 to the late Dr. Lester and Beatrice Atsuko Kashiwa. George graduated from Baldwin High School, Maui. He enrolled in the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War. He then attended Kapiolani Community College, Culinary Arts program.
