Waiehu golf course play altered Aug. 4-14
Play at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course will be altered Aug. 4-14 because of a delay in the delivery of material needed for a new pond liner, according to the Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation. During that time, golfers will play the back nine twice while the front nine is closed. Work on the pond liner is still expected to be completed by the end of August. Regular irrigation has resumed to maintain course playability and watering.

Firefighters rescue hiker, paddleboarder
Maui County firefighters and Ocean Safety personnel rescued a hiker in Kipahulu and a stand-up paddleboarder off North Kihei over the weekend. On Friday, multiple units responded at 3:33 p.m. after a 62-year-old woman fell while hiking on the Pipiwai Trail in Kipahulu. Rescue 10 firefighters aboard Air 1 located the woman and her hiking party, packaged her for transport and hoisted her into the helicopter.
