State parks, trails and camping to close ahead of Nolo

All state parks, camping areas, forest reserves, hiking trails, wildlife sanctuaries, natural area reserves and hunting and game management areas on Maui and Molokai will close Friday, Sept. 25, due to anticipated severe weather from Tropical Storm Nolo. The closures also apply to Hawaii Island beginning Thursday. The department has suspended issuance of all state forest and state park camping permits until further notice. Maui Courts closed Friday, Sept. 25, due to weather

Courts and Judiciary operations on Maui, Molokai and Lanai will be closed Friday, Sept. 25. Hearings and trials scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled. The deadline for documents due Sept. 25 in the Second Circuit has been extended to Sept. 28. Updates are available at courts.state.hi.us.

Maui Economic Opportunity will close its offices and Head Start classrooms Sept. 25 due to anticipated severe weather. Maui Bus ADA paratransit service, operated by MEO, will continue to operate in line with the Maui Bus fixed route service. Human Services transportation, including branch offices, will provide essential services only. War Memorial Blessing, donation drive postponed due to storm

Due to anticipated severe weather, Maui County officials have canceled the War Memorial Gymnasium Blessing that was planned for Friday, Sept. 25. Additionally, the Kōkua Kauai Donation Drive scheduled for Sept. 26-27 has also been postponed, according to the county. The War Memorial Gymnasium Blessing was scheduled to mark the completion of renovations to the Wailuku facility. Kahului Post Office to hold passport fair Sept. 26

The Kahului Post Office will offer additional appointments for new passport book and card applications from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at 138 S. Puunene Ave. The event will pause for lunch from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Applicants can schedule an appointment at usps.com/passport. They should complete Form DS-11 in advance but not sign it, and bring proof of U.S. citizenship, photo identification, photocopies of both documents and separate payments for the U.S. Department of State and the Postal Service.
