Brothers arraigned in Maui labor trafficking case

Maui police arrested two men Monday on labor trafficking, extortion and document-related charges following the execution of search warrants at a Kihei residence. Police said the investigation was conducted in coordination with the state Department of the Attorney General’s Special Investigation and Prosecution Division and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General. Molokai UTV crash victims identified

The two women killed Saturday night in a utility terrain vehicle crash on Molokai have been identified as Shyalyn Rapanot, 19, and Trinnity Napoleon-Lima, 20, both of Kaunakakai, according to the Maui Police Department. Police said Napoleon-Lima was driving a Polaris UTV with five passengers near Halawa Valley Park when the vehicle veered toward the shoulder, crossed Kamehameha V Highway and struck a large tree stump about 10:57 p.m. Saturday. Canadian pleads guilty to posing as airline pilot in wire fraud case

A Canadian man has pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud after admitting he posed as a commercial airline pilot to obtain hundreds of free flights on three U.S.-based airlines. According to federal prosecutors, Dallas Pokornik, 34, of Toronto admitted using a fictitious airline employee ID card to secure the flights between January 2020 and Oct. 28, 2024. Prosecutors said Pokornik, a former flight attendant for a Canadian airline, was indicted in October 2025, arrested in Panama and extradited to Hawaii to face the charges. West Maui keiki invited to inaugural Ka‘anapali fishing tournament

West Maui children ages 5 to 15 are invited to participate in the inaugural Kā‘anapali Keiki Fishing Tournament End of Summer Bash on Aug. 22 at the Kā‘anapali Golf Courses.
