Pedestrian killed Wednesday night on Kaahumanu Avenue

A 61-year-old woman from Wailuku suffered fatal injuries when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Kaahumanu Avenue on foot Wednesday night in Kahului. According to Maui police, the woman was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox being driven by a 70-year-old man, also from Wailuku. Police said the collision happened as the man was headed east approaching the intersection with South Wakea Avenue.
