The Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center Improvements project involves the replacement of deteriorated wood members, structural repairs, asphalt roofing and gutter replacement, and removal of lead paint and repainting of the interior and exterior.

The project also calls for the removal and replacement of the vinyl composition tile flooring, fire alarm system work, waterproofing of the second story lanai and other related improvements.

The current county budget includes $1 million for the project.

Construction of the community center was completed in 1992.

The department asks the public to stay outside of construction area barriers for safety.
