Scarlett Lewis, founder of The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation, will be speaking from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lokelani Intermediate School cafeteria in Kihei.

The free presentation focuses on the movement she founded after her son, Jesse, was killed in his 1st grade classroom during a shooting at Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Jesse, another 19 classmates and six teachers and administrators were killed.

The movement focuses on promoting social and emotional education in schools as well as compassion in communities.

There will be light refreshments and babysitting will be provided.
