Extreme makeover UH-MC edition

First photo: Valley Isle Fencing foreman Brandon Young makes sure a fence post is plumb as senior helper Kai Elaban fills its base with cement Wednesday afternoon. They are installing about 1,000 feet of six-foot chain-link fencing around the former UH-Maui College student dorms on Wahinepio Avenue. The dorms, which have been vacant since 2008, are being transformed into emergency housing for low-income families.

Second photo: Arisumi Brothers carpenters Brandon Silva (left) and Nakoa Nikaido remove a drywall ceiling Wednesday from one of the dorm buildings being renovated.
