MCCC inmates test negative for virus
All 275 COVID-19 tests of Maui Community Correctional Center inmates have been negative, according to a Department of Public Safety COVID-19 inmate testing report updated Monday.
In an email last week, Public Safety spokeswoman Toni Schwartz said all inmates who present with COVID-19 symptoms are being tested.
“The facility health care staff have been monitoring inmates for COVID-19 symptoms,” she said. “All inmates have also been instructed to report any symptoms of COVID-19 immediately.”
As of Jan. 4, the department reported 275 inmates were housed at the jail, which has an operational capacity of 301.
