Swell brings high surf to south shores

South-facing shores of all islands are under a high surf advisory until early today, as a long-period south-southwest swell continues to bring big waves to the islands, the National Weather Service said.

Waves of 7 to 10 feet were anticipated, with the swell expected to slowly lower throughout today.

The weather service warned of strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents, which could make swimming difficult and dangerous.
