A pair of axis deer bucks with their horns in felt peer through the trees at Keopuolani Park last month in Kahului. Deer have been appearing in more urbanized and populated areas of the island as the massive population forages in farmers’ fields and residents’ backyards, a situation that’s prompted multiple emergency proclamations.
