Lānaʻi Community event to distribute turkeys and rice on Nov. 23

A thousand complementary turkeys and five-pound bags of rice will be distributed to Lānaʻi community members in attendance from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 23 during a Lānaʻi giveaway event at the Lānaʻi Community Center, 333 Sixth St., Lāna’i City.

Other complementary offers at the event will include nonprofit vendors, keiki fun activities and local entertainment. Trilogy Excursions is coordinating the turkey distribution and the Lānaʻi community event. MHLA is coordinating the rice distribution on Lānaʻi, Molokai and Maui community distribution. Turkeys and rice bags will be distributed on a limited basis, first come, first served.

The guest of honor will be Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen, and a number of nonprofits and community groups will also be there to help out. Performers will include Hawaiian immersion class ages 3-10 years old, Kula Kaiapuni O Lāna’i, Tamatea Nui O Lānaʻi (a Tahitian performance) and Saul Kahihikolo and Rod Palafox singing in between performances.
