A new peace pole has been installed at Teran James Young Foundation’s office in Wailuku in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Kihei Wailea.

The new peace pole is meant to symbolize “the web of peace that is being created around the world and serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder of our shared responsibility to cultivate peace in our hearts and communities.”

“We need peace on earth, and we all want that, I believe,” said Genesis Young, the foundation’s president and a member of the board of directors, in a statement. “I challenge you to embrace inner peace and expect outer peace to arise from that energy.”

The Teran James Young Foundation works through various programs to uplift individuals, families and organizations while empowering them to embrace nonviolent communication, conflict-resolution and peace-building initiatives.

“This Peace Pole is a monument that displays ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ in eight different languages,” said Jay Satenstein, president of the Rotary Club of Kihei Wailea. “Peace is not just something you wish. Peace is something you make, something you are, something you do, something you give away.”
