Haleakala National Park will reopen the Summit District at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The park had closed after record-breaking rainfall caused widespread damage and flooding throughout Maui County over the weekend.

At the top of Halakela, rain totals from March 10-15 registered more than 49 inches.

Park visitors are being asked to drive slowly through the park and watch for debris on the roadways.

Sliding Sands Trail, Paliku visitor cabin and Kapalaoa visitor cabin will remain closed until they can be assessed and repaired if needed.

The park’s Kipahulu District remains closed to the public until the highway from Hana to Kipahulu in East Maui is reopened.

Starting at $4.62/week.
