Free summer meals available at 10 schools on Maui for children 18 and under

Ten schools on Maui will offer free summer meals to children ages 18 and younger on weekdays from June 9 through July 17. The Hawaii State Department of Education has announced that 74 public schools will offer the free summer meals through the USDA’s Seamless Summer Option program. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school. Participating schools on Maui include Baldwin and King Kekaulike High Schools, Iao and Kalama Intermediate Schools, and Haiku, Kahului, Kihei, Nāhiʻenaʻena, Paia and Waihee Elementary Schools. Woman critically injured in Sunday wreck

A 55-year-old Haiku woman suffered critical injuries in a wreck Sunday night on Honoapiilani Highway near North Kihei Road. According to police, the woman was driving a gray 2015 Volkswagen Jetta south on the highway when she approached the intersection with North Kihei Road. The Jetta drifted left across the grass median into oncoming traffic, sideswiping a white 2016 Dodge van before colliding head-on with a gray 2022 Volkswagen Atlas.
