Committee meeting on South Maui Community Plan recessed to 9 a.m. Wednesday; separate agenda canceled

The Disaster Recovery, International Affairs and Planning Committee canceled Wednesday's separate meeting agenda to reconvene Monday’s meeting at 9 a.m. and allow the committee to continue deliberations on Section 4, “Implementation and Monitoring,” of the draft South Maui Community Plan, Maui County Council member Tamara Paltin announced Tuesday. Workshop for Lahaina commercial property owners set for Sept. 30

The Maui County Office of Recovery will hold its third Commercial Property Workshop from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 in Morgado Hall at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Commercial property owners, architects, engineers and business owners in Lahaina’s historic districts may speak with county staff about permitting, reconstruction and other rebuilding challenges. Hawaiian Electric to survey Lahaina utility poles

Hawaiian Electric contractors will survey about 40 utility poles in areas above the Lahaina Bypass from Sept. 28 through Oct. 7. The work will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of efforts to strengthen the electric grid and reduce wildfire risk. Temporary wooden stakes or markers may be placed near existing electrical infrastructure. The surveys will be conducted by three-person crews from Dudek.
