Rotary Club to host presentation on acupuncture, family wellness

Maluhia Maui Rotary Club will host a presentation by licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist Jill Stevens at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Maui Gardens in Kihei. Stevens will discuss acupuncture, holistic medicine and their potential roles in individual and family wellness. Stevens founded Whole Family Wellness Center in 2007 and moved her practice from the San Francisco Bay Area to Maui in 2022. As of 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center shelter in Pukalani has been closed due to flooding. Because of the flooding, the center is not available for residents seeking shelter. Residents who need a safe place to go should proceed to the next nearest available shelter that can be safely reached. About 28,700 Maui County customers without power Sunday morning

Approximately 28,700 Maui County customers were without power as of 7 a.m. Sunday due to Tropical Storm Lala, according to Hawaiian Electric. The outages affected all of West Maui, parts of Upcountry, South and Central Maui and Haiku, as well as areas of Lanai and Molokai. Hawaiian Electric said crews were beginning damage assessments in accessible areas of Maui County, Hawaii Island and Oahu before restoration work could proceed.
