Hale Kau Kau provided a record number of meals in May, the most in a single month in the organization’s 35-year history, according to Barry Rosenfeld, president of Hale Kau Kau. The organization delivered 3,475 meals to kupuna and people with disabilities, an average of 112 meals per night. Hale Kau Kau also served 2,625 meals onsite in Kihei to people facing food insecurity, an average of 85 dinners per night. Pukalani Terrace Center will host its Fifth Annual Back-to-School Drive from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 18 in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui. The community event will collect and distribute school supplies for Upcountry students preparing for the 2026-27 school year. The Hawaii Department of Health and Department of the Attorney General will begin enforcing Hawaii’s hemp retailer and distributor registration requirements statewide July 1.
