Entangled propeller delays Lanai ferry Saturday night
Crews from the Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety responded Saturday evening to an Expeditions Lanai Ferry that was adrift in the Auau Channel after debris became entangled in the boat’s propeller. The department received the call at 6:44 p.m. and sent personnel aboard Rescue Boat 10 to assist the ferry between Maui and Lanai. By the time they reached the vessel, its crew had freed the debris from the propeller without assistance. Rescue Boat 10 escorted the ferry to Maalaea Harbor without further incident. The response concluded at 8:45 p.m.
