Wailuku First Friday will celebrate Lei Day from 6 to 9 p.m. May 1 on Market Street. The free event features lei-making, local vendors, food and live entertainment. The Market Street stage will host Ma‘awe from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by Kaina Kountry from 7:45 to 9 p.m. At the Wailuku Garage, attendees can participate in free lei-making while DJ Z performs. Maui Economic Opportunity assisted 54,780 Maui County residents from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, according to the agency’s annual report. The nonprofit agency reported providing 266,400 rides through its Maui Bus paratransit and human services transportation programs, while also supporting 7,560 survivors of the 2023 wildfires.
