Matthew Holton

Matthew James George Holton of Volcano, Hawai’i passed away in his home on January 14, 2026, having lived with a boundless energy, creativity and passion that inspired all those who knew him. Matt was born on February 17, 1978 to Steve and Doreen Holton, growing up in his hometown of Kula, Maui, Hawai’i. Graduating from Maui High School in 1996, Holton attended University of Oregon earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Matt pursued many of his dreams, becoming a competitive runner, artist, running coach, sports journalist, and author. Matthew Holton is survived by his partner Cristina Pineda, parents Steve and Doreen Holton, sister Jessica (Morgan) Gerdel.
