She was preceded in death by her mother, Muriel “Ulu” Kalua; and sisters, Mary Kalua and Lehua Kalua. Earl Toshio “Axle” Shimizu, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 29, 2022. Earl was born on December 26, 1946. He was the second son of Manabu and Alice Shimizu (both deceased) of Kula. Earl was a race car fanatic and often participated in the races at the Puunene Drag Strip.
