George Kastumi Kashiwa passed away on October 11th at the Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Wailuku, Maui on June 2, 1948 to the late Dr. Lester and Beatrice Atsuko Kashiwa. George graduated from Baldwin High School, Maui. He enrolled in the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War. He then attended Kapiolani Community College, Culinary Arts program. He retired as a cook at the Pacific Beach and Pagoda Hotel, Oahu. He struggled and lived his life with the trials and turmoil of the effect of the Vietnam War.
