Masanori Kaya Sr., 91, of Kula, passed away on January 20, 2017 at Kula Hospital. He was born on December 24, 1925 in Wailuku. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday February 3, 2017 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service will begin at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery at 1 p.m. Masanori was a retired carpenter. Shirley Yukiko Kaya, 90, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 at Hale Makua with her loving family by her side. Services honoring Mrs. Kaya were held privately. Frances Fortunata “Atang” Arcilla Sevilla, born October 14, 1928, in Pepe’ekeo, Hawai’i passed away on December 21, 2016 at Hale Makua Kahului. Frances was the daughter of the late Theresa and Pedro Arcilla, who were from respectively, Cebu and Ormok in the Visayas, Philippines.  The Arcilla family moved to Hamakuapoko, Maui, when Frances was three years old.  She attended Maui High School in “H-poko,” but her education was interrupted by WWII.  She later attended Maui Vocational School and earned her GED from the Department of Education, Adult Education ...
