Bridge project inexplicably pulled from county budget
The same too-narrow bridge where a vehicle traffic fatality took place in Lahaina was flooded out during Olivia. The bridge and road improvements which would have fixed the bridge and mitigated against the flooding were part of a capital improvement project which was inexplicably removed from the county budget by Mayor Alan Arakawa under the auspices of County Council Member Elle Cochran, the chair of infrastructure.
This, after the Public Works director, David Goode, exempted a developer’s obligations to fix the bridge, and then he went to work for that developer. Is anyone going to hold these people accountable?
