Person opines that US is no better than Russia

A letter writer on March 22 seems to think that the US is no better than Russia and Putin because a guest editorial proclaimed that the Russian election was a foregone conclusion because of corruption in the Russian government. He believes the democrats. like the Russians, are corrupt and that the elections are rigged in their favor. Obviously, he is a MAGA republican who believes the Big Lie. The world laughs not at our country but at the MAGAs whose sole purpose in Congress is to create mayhem and confusion at the orders of former President Donald Trump. GOP Congressmen Burk ...

Mourning for large canopy tree harmed

Graffiti artist Banksy must feel the same heartbreak I do when I see a majestic tree shorn of its leaves. The photo in the March 9 newspaper showed no leaves and stubbed branches of Lahaina’s banyan. The pruning must have been done by someone who knows nothing about trees. The leaves are as important as the roots for a tree’s growth. Our climate is so forgiving, you soon see a flush of growth. The unit sales of electric vehicles in the U.S. are expected to reach 2.46 million vehicles in ...

Demonstrate to world resilience of community

I am writing to urgently appeal for the restoration of Lahaina Town to its former state, just as it was before the devastating wildfire of 2023. The history and charm of Lahaina Town are deeply rooted in the hearts of both locals and visitors, serving as a symbol of harmony and success that must be preserved. The recent wildfire has left Lahaina Town in ruins, altering its landscape and erasing the essence of its rich history. It is crucial that we bring back Lahaina Town to its original state, ensuring that its unique character and cultural significance are reinstated. By ...

The continued partnership with Cameron Chemical Corp. has resulted in this well organized annual collection that keeps batteries, yard chemicals, oil-based paint and many other hazardous items out of the landfill.
