Spartans top Pine Lads in battle of unbeatens
BOYS BASKETBALL
Kama Konohia scored 15 points, and the Seabury Hall boys basketball team rallied to defeat Lanai 62-58 on Friday night in Lanai City to take over sole possession of first place in the Maui Interscholastic League Division II standings.
The nine-time defending league champion Spartans trailed 22-16 after the first quarter and 37-29 at the half before rallying in the third quarter by outscoring the Pine Lads 19-7.
Noah Payne hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points, Kai Preseault also scored 13 and Joaquin Donez added 11 for Seabury (7-0).
Lanai (6-1) got 21 points from Andre Adams and 16 from Naighel Calderon, who made four 3s.
The teams play again today.
