Bears earn 3-0 victory over Na Alii in MIL bowling

The Baldwin High School boys bowling team took control of the Maui Interscholastic League team race Saturday with a 3-0 win over second-place King Kekaulike at Maui Bowling Center.
Kainalu Torres-Estores bowled a 170 to lead the Bears (14-4). Christopher Keanini-Higa added high games of 159 and 156, and Kanai Quinsaat had a 159.
Na Alii (13-8), the defending MIL boys champions, got a high game of 189 by Gavin Brittain. Trevor Onaga had a 158 and Rayden Siarot had a 136.
The Baldwin girls also defeated King Kekaulike 3-0.
Kalena Torres-Estores had a 154, Kamalani Adolpho a 140 and Janelle Dee a 122 for the Bears (12-6). Na Alii (0-21) got a 143 from Mahiole Austring.
Also on Saturday, the Kamehameha Maui girls closed in on a fourth straight MIL title with a 3-0 victory over Kihei Charter.
Nadia Apo-Takayama bowled a 215 and 155 to lead the Warriors (17-1), and Essence Nomura had a 131.
The Tiger Sharks (8-13) got a 140 from Maile Coulter and 131 from Nehemiah Kuhaulua.
In the boys match, Kamehameha downed Kihei 3-0.
The Warriors (12-6) got high games from Kahiau Vida (150), Bryson Reformina (137) and Jasyah Macugay (136).
Michael Witter had a 119 for the Tiger Sharks (0-21).
