Traffic notification for Sunday’s Maui Oceanfront Marathon

About 1,900 runners are expected to participate in the Maui Oceanfront Marathon on Sunday from Wailea to Lahaina, and drivers are asked to watch carefully for runners on the shoulder and pay attention to the following road delays, detours and closures:

There will be traffic delays and detours on South Kihei Road between 4:30 and 7 a.m.; Front Street is closed between Prison Street and Shaw Street in both directions, and south-bound between Shaw Street and Highway 30; South-bound traffic on Hwy 30 will be detoured up to the Lahaina Bypass at Kai Hele Ku at Launiupoko Wayside Park; Hwy 30 south from Lahaina to the 5K start line will be closed at Hokiokio Place, detouring traffic up to the bypass at Kai Hele Ku at Launiupoko Wayside Park between 6 and 11 a.m.

North-bound traffic is open without delays on the race route.
