Billy Kemper drops into a wave at Peahi on Jan. 23 on a ride that won the Maui native the Red Bull Big Wave Awards Ride of the Year Award. Kemper was announced the winner of the most prestigious Big Wave award on the WSL World Surf Weekly show Monday. It is his second Ride of the Year win. Kemper beat out four other finalists for the award, including fellow Maui big-wave surfer Kai Lenny, whose submission was also from the surf spot known as Jaws, on Jan. 25.
