Central East Maui 3-0 at Senior LL regionals
Central East Maui Little League has outscored its opponents 25-0 through its first three games of the Senior League (15-16) West Regional in Oakland, Calif.
CEM opened with a 7-0 win over Rock Springs (Wyo.) on Thursday before routing Summerlin (Nev.) 11-0 on Friday and Nogales (Ariz.) 7-0 on Saturday. They finish up pool play today, and the championship game is Wednesday.
In Nogales, Ariz., Central East Maui’s Intermediate 50/70 team has posted a 2-1 record through Saturday at its regional tournament.
CEM defeated Laguna Beach (Calif.) 14-4 on Thursday and Woodland (Calif.) 30-29 on Friday before falling to Redmond (Wash.) 4-2 on Saturday. They were to wrap up pool play Sunday and start elimination play Tuesday. The championship game is Thursday.
In PONY West Zone tournaments in California, Maui’s state champion Mustangs (10U) and Broncos (12U) teams were eliminated this weekend.
The Maui Mustangs went 1-2, defeating Apple Valley (Calif.) 5-4 before falling to San Diego 2-1 and Scottsdale (Ariz.) 6-4.
The Maui Broncos also finished 1-2 after topping Simi Valley (Calif.) 10-8 before losing to Placentia (Calif.) 13-2 and San Diego 15-0.
