Bears earn second victory with 3-0 win over Spartans
The Baldwin High School boys soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Seabury Hall on Friday afternoon in Olinda.
Travis Delos Santos scored in the 22nd minute and Keoni Perez Martin netted a goal in the 30th to give the Bears a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kanata Kuwahara tacked on an insurance goal in the 70th as Baldwin improved to 2-0-0 in Maui Interscholastic League play.
With the win, the Bears moved into a tie with defending state champion King Kekaulike for the top spot in the MIL Division I standings.
The Spartans, last season’s Division II state runners-up, fell to 0-2-0, with their other loss coming to Na Alii earlier in the week.
In a Friday afternoon game at Maui High, the King Kekaulike girls edged the Sabers 1-0.
Na Alii improved to 4-1-2, and Maui High fell to 3-4-0.
