A free forum for Maui County office-seekers will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Cameron Center in Wailuku, according to an announcement. Sign-in is at 5 p.m., and pupu will be served until 5:45. County Council candidates will be questioned first, followed by the mayoral candidates. The event is sponsored by Go Maui Inc., the Construction Industry of Maui and the Maui Chamber of Commerce. The Ha‘iku Community Association and Pa‘ia Town Association will host a candidates’ night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Haiku Community Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Featured election contests include the mayor’s race and the contests for the Makawao-Haiku-Paia, East Maui and Upcountry residency seats on the Maui County Council. Tourism association endorses Victorino Former Maui County Council Member Mike Victorino has been endorsed for mayor by the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association.
