Congratulations to Kihei Charter School
I was delighted to read (Maui News, Aug. 17) of the tremendous progress the Kihei Charter School has made toward achieving a permanent home in the Maui Research and Technology Park.
This is a milestone achievement by a volunteer group of dedicated community leaders over many years and over many obstacles. Many may not realize the charter school is a public school and tuition free to attend. My hat’s off to Gene Zarro and the South Maui Learning Ohana that has been the chief engine for the progress that is providing our children with world-class education, experiential learning, the highest academic standards and the successful transition to college.
The charter school was once a dream and the ohana, incredible teachers and wonderful students have made it a reality.
