The Lahainaluna High School softball team scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Maui High 16-14 on Friday night at Patsy Mink Field in Kahului.

The Lunas pounded out 13 hits, while the Sabers had 12. Maui High scored four times in the bottom of the seventh before falling short.

Kaaina Kalanikau, Nohili Hong, Briann Keohuloa and Keani Pagan all had two hits for the Lunas (9-2), who have already clinched a state tournament berth with the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season title.

Melia Paet, Erin Prieto, Destiny Kama, Hailey Gomes and Kylenna Rieta all had two hits for the Sabers (4-7). Paet smacked a home run.
