Charity golf tournament to benefit Alzheimer’s Association

Maui Nightlife Entertainment will host the inaugural Aloha Fore Alzheimer’s charity golf tournament Aug. 8 at the Wailea Blue Course. The four-person scramble will begin with registration at 7 a.m. and an 8 a.m. shotgun start. An awards banquet will follow at 1 p.m. at Manoli’s Pizza Company. Organizers said all net proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association — Hawaii and support care, education, advocacy and research for people affected by dementia. Maui County property tax payment due Aug. 20

The first installment of Maui County real property taxes for fiscal year 2026-27 is due Aug. 20, according to the Maui County Department of Finance. Tax bills have been mailed to property owners and their agents. Property owners who have not received a bill should contact the department. Failure to receive a bill does not exempt taxpayers from penalties or interest on late payments. Taxes not paid in full by the deadline will be subject to a one-time 10% penalty and 1% monthly interest on the unpaid balance until paid. Governor to sign immigrant justice bill July 28

Gov. Josh Green will sign legislation described by immigrant rights advocates as one of the nation’s strongest immigrant justice laws during a ceremony July 28 at the Hawaii State Capitol. The bill signing will be held from noon to 12:15 p.m. in the governor’s office, followed by a memorial program from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda.
