Water service to be interrupted Thursday

Department of Water Supply customers in Pukalani will have water shut off from around 9 p.m. Thursday through 4 a.m. Friday as part of a Makawao Avenue improvement project, according to the county. The water shutdown will affect all water services off of the old Haleakala Highway and homes south of the Haleakala Highway bypass. Affected customers are encouraged to store water and take other appropriate measures. Roadway improvement work will include widening and repaving Makawao Avenue between Apana Road and Haleakala Highway. The scope of work also includes removing obstructions, relocating utility poles and fire hydrants, installing new curbs and traffic signs and other work.
