Maui County’s Department of Water Supply on Wednesday asked residents in the Napili and Honokowai areas along with those in Honokohau Valley in West Maui to conserve water due to a power outage in the Napili area. 

The department expected water to be restored as early as Wednesday afternoon, but said bringing water systems fully back online was expected to take until early this morning. 

Water conservation was urged to reduce demand and extend existing water supplies. This includes refraining from washing cars, washing down sidewalks and driveways and irrigating lawns.
