Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter announces 2025 scholarship recipients

This year the Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa’s Gamma Chapter presented $1,000 scholarships to 11 graduates from Maui’s public high schools.

Founded in 1947, Alpha Delta Kappa is an International Honorary Sorority for women educators whose members are dedicated to improving education and the teaching profession, increasing world understanding through cultural exchanges, and making a difference in their communities through volunteer services.

The group raises funds through events such as rummage sales, helping at the Maui Interscholastic League games and gift-wrapping at the Shops at Wailea. Annually, these year-round projects generate the funds to help students with their college tuition.

The selection was based on academic excellence, character and service to school and community. The recipients are:

Ciana Cooper

• Maui High graduate Ciana Cooper, daughter of Maria Cooper and Theresa O’toole, will attend Columbia University in New York.

Marvin Corre

• Lanai graduate Marvin Corre, son of Mariza and Emmanuel Corre, will attend the University of Hawaii Manoa.

Taylor Jade Deocares

• Baldwin graduate Taylor Jade Deocares, daughter of Clarissa and Shane Deocares, will attend the Oregon Institute of Technology.

Kamakanoweo Kekauoha-Schultz

• King Kekaulike graduate Kamakanoweo Kekauoha-Schultz, son of Jeff and Kalcie Kekauoha-Schultz, will attend UH Hilo.

Kalia Moreno

• Lahainaluna graduate Kalia Moreno, daughter of Dolly Moreno, will attend College of Southern Nevada.

Kaysa Ong

• Maui High graduate Kaysa Ong, daughter of Vilma and Rolando Ong, will attend Chapman University.

Emma Jane Roy

• Baldwin graduate Emma Jane Roy, daughter of Trisha and Mark Roy, also will attend Chapman University.

Naighgel Sudio

• Lanai graduate Naighgel Sudio, son of Vanessa Sudio, will attend New Mexico Military Institute.

Miya Suzuki

• Baldwin graduate Miya Suzuki, daughter of Michele and Ryan Suzuki, will attend UH Manoa.

Kelsie Tamayose

• King Kekaulike graduate Kelsie Tamayose, daughter of Janelle and Chad Tamayose, will attend Creighton University.

• King Kekaulike graduate Ikaika Wright, son of Taschia and Clifford Wright, will attend the University of Las Vegas in Nevada.

A special luncheon was held for the winners and their families at the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center.
