Water conservation urged in West Kuiaha, Awalau

The Maui County Department of Water Supply is advising those in the West Kuiaha and Awalau areas to conserve water due to a well that is out of service. Those in the affected areas may experience low water pressure or water outages while department crews work to restore service. The department is asking people in the affected areas to limit nonessential water use to help maintain available water service for the community. Potable water tanks will be deployed in the affected areas to provide drinking water while service is being restored.

Public invited to help identify Maui conservation priorities

Maui farmers, ranchers, agricultural leaders, forest landowners and conservation organizations are invited to help identify local natural resource concerns and conservation priorities during a meeting Aug. 26 at the University of Hawaii Maui College. The local working group meeting will be hosted by the Maui Soil & Water Conservation Districts and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
