Special Fair Day returns Oct. 2 to Wailuku

Maui County’s Special Fair Day will return Oct. 2, offering community members with disabilities an opportunity to enjoy the fair in an accessible setting. The private event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the War Memorial Special Events Complex. About 2,000 participants are expected. Maui Holoholo Bookmobile celebrates 10 years of service

The Maui Holoholo Bookmobile is celebrating its 10th anniversary throughout September by bringing books, technology and educational resources to communities across Maui. The mobile library will stop from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lahaina District Court, 1870 Honoapiilani Highway, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at Napili Park, at Honoapiilani Highway and Maiha Street. Maui County prepares for possible hurricane impacts

Maui County departments are preparing for possible impacts from Hurricane Lowell and Hurricane Karina while continuing to respond to damage caused by Tropical Storm Lala, county officials said Thursday. Gov. Josh Green also signed a statewide emergency proclamation Thursday to support preparations for Lowell, Karina, Marie and any additional storms that could affect Hawaii.
