Two points proved to be the difference as Maui High faced Lahainaluna in a slugfest that treated fans to an explosive first half on offense, followed by a defensive shutout in the second. Suicide prevention events planned across Maui County

The state Department of Health is alerting the public to several events across Maui County in recognition of September as Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. On Maui, a SafeTALK Suicide Prevention Training will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the University of Hawaii Maui College. For information, email Wendy.Schwartz@va.gov. Aloha Council invites families to join Scouting

Scouting America, Aloha Council is inviting Hawaii families to enroll children in its fall programs, which offer outdoor activities, STEM education, community service and leadership opportunities. Programs are open to youth from kindergarten through age 17. Cub Scouts serves children in kindergarten through fifth grade, while older youth may participate in Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Venturing and Exploring.
