Two hikers rescued from Haleakala Crater

Two hikers from Austin, Texas, were airlifted off of Haleakala on Monday after they had difficulty with the high elevation and were unable to make it back to the parking lot at the crater rim. Maui firefighters were called at 12:49 p.m. Monday to a mountain rescue in the crater. The hikers, a man and a woman, had made contact with National Park Service rangers before being located by Rescue 10 firefighters aboard Air 1.
