County launches grant program for traditional crops
The Maui County Department of Agriculture will accept applications beginning Sept. 23 for its fiscal 2027 Niu, Kalo and ‘Ulu Grant program. The two-year grant provides eligible projects with up to $50,000 per year to cultivate and expand production of niu, or coconut; kalo, or taro; and ‘ulu, or breadfruit, across Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
