Maui High grad Fricke entering Hall of Honor
Greg Fricke, a 1996 Maui High School graduate, will be inducted into California Institute of Technology Hall of Honor class on May 17.
The former baseball player will be one of four former athletic standouts honored by the school’s seventh Hall of Honor class.
His bio entry in the Caltech press release said Fricke was a two-time all-conference selection–the Beavers’ lone representative over a 15-year span. He was a four-time team most valuable player.
When his career ended, he held both the single-season and career hits records, career triples and walks marks, and ranked second in single-season triples and tied for second in single-season home runs — all marks that still stand.
Fricke worked as an engineer with Boeing Satellite Systems for six years following graduation before pursuing his master’s and eventual doctorate at Duke University, which led him to a staff engineer position as an electromechanical researcher at LORD Corporation over the past seven years.
