Warriors hold on to beat Na Alii 2-1

For the second straight day, the Kamehameha Schools Maui and King Kekaulike baseball teams battled in a pitchers’ duel with the Warriors coming out on top in Maui Interscholastic League Division I play on Friday at Maehara Stadium.

Kamehameha Maui scored twice in the first inning and held on for a 2-1 win over King Kekaulike, which got on the scoreboard via a sixth-inning home run by Jaxon Wong.

Micah Torres went 6 2/3 innings, allowed five hits, struck out four and walked one, and Keale Kuluhiwa-Kim got the final out for the save on the mound for the Warriors (2-0).

Wong went the distance on the mound for Na Alii (0-5). Wong allowed six hits, walked one and struck out one for King Kekaulike, which has lost four MIL games by two runs or less.

In Lanai City, Molokai rode a combined one-hitter to a 3-1 win over Lanai in MIL Division II play.

Heath Lopez-Schonely, Kynan Cariaga-Abafo and David Lima-English combined on the gem — Lopez-Schonely got the win with four innings pitched, allowing the hit and the run, walking three and striking out three.

Miken Loo and David Lima-English were both 2 for 3 at the plate for the Farmers.

Molokai improved to 7-0 and Lanai fell to 2-4.
