Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has always blocked a two-state solution, confirming the illusion that American Jewish influence is that powerful. President Joe Biden shot himself in the foot, with his ironclad support and the trust put into Netanyahu. He alienated key supporters, with his less than honest “brokerage” of support for Israel. I respect and admire The Maui News for presenting a variety of views. But presenting far-right propaganda by Laura Hollis (Jan. 19 opinion) does your readers a disservice. County’s toxic waste plan flawed from beginning?

I happened to be in an elevator at my hotel with some engineers who specialize in toxic substances, and they expressed their belief that the proposed plan by Mayor Richard Bissen for storing waste from the Lahaina fire should never have been considered. Many years ago, I withdrew into the proverbial pathless forest. It had to be pathless, otherwise it would not have been my path to myself. Something has gone drastically wrong with our legal system. It has been taken over by crooks with money and influence and lawyers without ethics or morals.
