The Kākoʻo Molokaʻi donation drive collected enough essential supplies to fill two shipping containers for families on Molokai affected by recent flooding.
According to drive organizers, the effort brought together hundreds of volunteers, as well as local businesses and organizations, with major contributions coming from Costco Kahului, Home Depot, Ka Lei’s Lunch Box and HPM Building Supply.
Home Depot and Costco provided pallets of essential supplies to help families clean and recover. At the same time, Mahi Pono offered pickup and delivery support, providing large shipping bins and cardboard boxes essential to deliver the supplies operation.
The effort was further strengthened by Young Brothers Hawaii and the Hawaii Longshore Division, which sponsored the containers and coordinated shipping them to Molokai.

Above all, organizers said the want to recognize the volunteers and community members who showed up throughout the day to sort, lift, organize and donate.
“I want to thank our partners Hawaiian Council, Lahaina Strong and Hawaii Longshore Division for their support,” said organizer Tiare Lawrence of Kākoʻo Haleakalā. “I am reminded
since the fires that our island is resilient when we come together. This was truly a kākou effort.”
For those who would still like to support the Molokai recovery efforts, Kiloʻau Foundation is accepting donations. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 1614, Kaunakakai, HI 96748, or donations can be sent via Venmo at @molokaicares.
